The 2025/26 squad emphasizes a high-intensity defensive approach and reliance on technical wing play.

• Composition: The attack is led by Serhou Guirassy, who is the club's leading scorer with 19 goals in all competitions (14 in the Bundesliga). The midfield is anchored by the creative Julian Brandt and the rising talent of Jamie Gittens and Maximilian Beier.
• Tactical Focus: Under Niko Kovač, BVB has moved toward a more pragmatic, physically robust style. While some fans have criticized the "playing style," the results have kept the team in the top two for most of the season.
• Key Defensive Pillars: Nico Schlotterbeck remains the leader of the backline, while goalkeeper Gregor Kobel continues to provide elite shot-stopping. The defense has conceded 31 goals in 30 league games, the second-best record in the division.

Signal Iduna Park: Infrastructure & Sustainability

The "Westfalenstadion" remains the largest stadium in Germany and a leader in modern sports infrastructure.

• Sustainability: In late 2025, BVB achieved a world record for the most powerful PV (photovoltaic) system on a stadium roof. The club now covers approximately 50% of its electricity needs through solar power.
• Battery Storage: A large-scale battery storage facility is currently under construction (2026) to ensure the stadium remains powered even during non-sunny hours.
• Atmosphere: The Südtribüne (Yellow Wall) continues to host 24,454 standing fans, maintaining the highest average attendance in European football at 81,365.
